Site-specific installation at the Mattress Factory
Drawing inspiration from The Homestead Steel Strike, the assassination attempt of Henry Clay Frick, and other elements of Pittsburgh's "rich" labor history, The Hidden Shift explores the relationships between art, labor, and capitalism by casting museum staff / non-actors in a play that was set in the museum (formerly a 19th century macaroni factory). The piece combines narrative, documentary, and BTS footage across two channels to shift viewers' perspectives between artwork and art work.
